MYH Skills - Driscoll Power Skating

Hopefully you have seen skill sessions on the team calendars and/or the notifications about skills sessions being added to the calendar on Thursdays. Starting this Thursday and continuing every other Thursday, MYH will have “skills” at the West Roxbury MDC Rink.

The skill sessions will be power skating run by Tim Driscoll. Attendance is strongly encouraged as we believe that skating skills are the most important skill in the game of hockey. Driscoll Skating & Skills is wholly focused on making every player that they work with a better skater.

The full schedule will be added to the team calendars soon and the teams may switch between the 5-6 and 6-7 times. The schedule for this Thursday is:

  • 5-6pm - Mites
  • 6-7pm - Squirts, Pee Wees & Bantams

More information on Driscoll Skating & Skills:

The Driscoll Skating & Skills approach to Power Skating is simple. We create a positive, hockey-rich environment with a primary goal of teaching Power Skating. Our "pace of play is deliberate" designed to educate the players and demand proper execution before moving on with the curriculum. We follow a teaching blueprint: i) explanation of the drill; ii) demonstration of the drill by an instructor; iii) player performs drill; iv) correction of player at individual level v) repeat until satisfactory progress is made and vi) move on to the following progression of the drill. We are always working towards execution of Power Skating movements at top speed. Extremely hands-on approach that values proper explanation and demonstration.

See you Thursday.
